Family Travel and Outdoor Leisure

Small World magazineAbout

Small World was started by the owner of Young Explorers, a UK mail order company retailing a comprehensive range of outdoor clothing and equipment for 0-16 years.

Every day through Young Explorers we have found ourselves talking to people who do some great activities and amazing trips with their children. At the same time we are asked by other customers how to set up exactly those kinds of experiences. The idea of Small World is that the two groups can exchange ideas. We’ll combine your experiences with expertise from our contributors on medical issues, product reviews and all kinds of travel conundrums and ideas.

What we want is for you the readers (including the children) to send us reports in words and pictures of your trips and travels. What we'll do is pick the ones we think are the most informative and inspiring.

Do send us your articles, and if you have any ideas for information you'd like to see covered, drop us an e-mail and we'll do our best to find someone who can provide the answers.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Jeanette Davey

Editor and Publisher

Jeanette has a passion for the outdoors and travel, which thankfully she has passed on to her own children. They now do more outdoor activities than she thought possible, and also do them better. Most of her travels are based around great campsite locations in the UK and Europe as well as further afield. Jeanette is the owner of Young Explorers, which sells the UK ’s most comprehensive range of outdoor clothing and equipment for children. The Scientific Exploration Society invited Jeanette to become an Ambassador for their society in late 2008. She is increasingly being called upon to speak in the media about issues surrounding holidaying and leisure time with children, most recently including BBC's Woman's Hour and Jeremy Vine shows.
